The Business Support Officer provides high quality administrative support to the Arts House team and Creative City Branch as required.

The position undertakes customer facing reception duties and provides facilities support, advice and service to external parties and the general public on behalf of Arts House.


As a part of the Business Management team, the Business Support Officer will contribute to implementing effective and compliant financial, audit, reporting and administrative systems to ensure a high standard of program delivery aligned to the Arts House vision, enabling growth, sustainability and viability within budget and resources.


The incumbent completes all activities in a professional, efficient, confidential and courteous manner within a continuous improvements and service excellence environment.

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • Experience in a business support delivery function with the ability to anticipate support needs and multitask within a fastpaced, high volume and multifaceted business environment.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service ethos and the ability to communicate and liaise confidently all levels of the business and with artists, arts organisations members of the public and service providers.
  • Experience to prepare documents to a high quality level which are fit for business purpose.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment supporting productive relationships with people at all levels.
  • Ability to contribute to systems and processes development to drive efficiency across administrative functions within a continuous improvement environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in financial management including budget tracking, invoicing, purchase requisition.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, consciousness and safety in working with artists, staff and contractors, particularly from marginalised communities is desirable. Lived experience will be prioritised.
  • Experience providing facility/venue support in an arts context is desirable
