The Role


The Lending Specialist (LS) is an important member of IOOF Finance Choice and is primarily responsible for managing the lending advice needs of existing clients, conversion of prospective lending clients, and introduction of new clients to the business.

The LS should demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and at all times act in the client's best interests

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop referral sources using new and existing centres of influence such as key client accounts / Private Wealth Advisers (PWA) etc.
  • Cultivate new clients and introduce new clients to the business from own initiatives (which could include resources provided by IOOF). It is also expected that the LS will systematically cultivate referrals from existing clients by providing exceptional credit advice and service
  • Where appropriate, identify cross referral opportunities so that prospective clients may engage with the full spectrum of general insurance and wealth management services offered through IOOF
  • Be responsible and accountable for the associated work required to deliver new client business including the preparation and delivery of lending advice as the case may require
  • This advice needs to be provided in a profitable manner and could be prepared by the LS or with the support of other Advisers and staff
  • The success and profitable delivery of initial advice is critical to the business and will be measured on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure that clients are informed of their options and understand any recommendations that are made to them by providing high quality lending advice
  • Identify when a client needs additional advice and liaise with their support team eg Client Relationship Manager Lending Services (if allocated) to deliver this advice to clients on a timely basis
  • To develop and maintain technical and industry knowledge at the highest level

To Be Successful in This Role You Will Possess

  • MFAA Credit Adviser or Senior Credit Adviser Member
  • Certificate 4 and Diploma of Finance Mortgage Brokering with an understanding of NCCP
  • Undertake ongoing Professional Development
  • Experienced in using aggregator CRM systems and Electronic Loan Lodging Systems
  • Actively seeking new business opportunities and developing new centres of influence
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a lending specialist role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly computer literate (especially on Microsoft Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability and work experience in managing and leading teams
