Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct client consultations that inform the regional engagement strategies, activities, programs and plans.
  • Engagement strategy and annual plan identifies key stakeholders, partners and community services that enhance the outcomes for clients.
  • Client community database established, and continuous communication occurs with up to date and relevant information.
  • Regional activities to promote GD are identified and leveraged.
  • Clients and volunteers are attracted and meaningfully engaged in regional activities.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of formal and informal peer support services and small group workshops including programs delivered by peers for peers as well as GDN staff.
  • Initiatives are codesigned with the blind and low vision community with monitoring and evaluation.
  • Volunteers are recruited, trained and ongoing mentoring provided where necessary.
  • Increasing referrals received from regional agencies and professionals in line with key performance indicators.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in client and community engagement that delivers client and community outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate sensitively and respectfully with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to regularly travel within the region.
  • Able to manage the physical demands and inherent requirements of the job.
  • Obtain a "Working with Children Check" or "Working with Vulnerable People" clearance and "Criminal History Check".

Desirable Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Social Science/Social Work, Community Services, Allied Health, Marketing qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of vision impairment services.
  • Lived experience with blindness or low vision.
  • Experience in project management and coordinating multiple projects.
