Can you make a difference in an exciting, emerging industry where you can shape opinions and contribute to industry positions? SCA (Vic) is the peak body and member organisation for the strata industry.

Members consist of strata managers - who manage owners corporations (previously known as Body Corporates) and service suppliers to the strata industry.

Our members specialise in the area of the management of common property in apartment and commercial buildings.

Our goal is to become the first port of call for comment, opinion and policy advice in the strata industry, to raise the industry profile and to advocate to government for meaningful change.

This is a role that will enable the successful candidate to work autonomously in Victoria with support and guidance from the National Advocacy Manager (based interstate) and will routinely interact with office staff.

To succeed in this role, you will require high-level strategic thinking and analytical skills.

The role is ideally suited to someone that can progress the advocacy agenda of SCA (Vic), is experienced with government relations and has a demonstrated history of relationship building and achieving change.


About You:
A minimum of two years' experience in a policy or advocacy role in a member-based organisation, political office or government agency Excellent written communication skills including copywriting, media release writing and submissions writing skills Demonstrated experience gaining media coverage through proactive methods and relationship building An understanding of the issues facing the strata sector and property sector in Victoria, or the ability to rapidly acquire issues-based understanding An understanding of government structures and processes and a keen interest in politics and policy Highly developed interpersonal and diplomacy skills Demonstrated project management and organisational skills, including the ability to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines Tertiary qualification in journalism, media, communications, political science, public policy or a related field is highly desirable

The Role:

Drafting and distributing media releases, pitches and opinion pieces Drafting and submitting position papers, pre-budget submissions and election related campaign material to industry and to industry and government Writing feature articles for Inside Strata (industry magazine) and member newsletters, Analysing research reports by external providers Monitoring government activity including new legislation, regulation, inquiries and consultations for strata relevant developments Creating social media content to raise the profile of the policy and advocacy work of the organisation Securing and attending advocacy meetings with government and industry stakeholders Cultivating collaborative working relationships with media, industry and government Managing the Advocacy Advisory (member) committee of SCA (Vic) including scheduling meetings and producing agendas and minutes Producing regular reports of advocacy activities in line with priorities for the Board of Directors Conducting presentations of relevant matters at SCA (Vic) events What we will offer you: Competitive Salary commensurate with experience On-going development via external training Work close to home, based in fashionable Collingwood Flexible work environment Be a part of an exciting dynamic industry Additional annual leave days Great staff culture Secure onsite car parking Interested?
