The Role
The

Library Support Services Officer - Primary & Secondary is responsible for providing friendly and welcoming customer service in the Primary and Secondary libraries to staff, students, and visitors. Reporting to the Head of Teaching & Learning - Secondary, the role focuses on understanding and responding to information service needs, facilitating access to physical and online resources, and contributing to the overall organisation and promotion of library services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly customer service as the primary contact for staff, students, and visitors in both the Primary and Secondary libraries.
  • Address information service needs, recommend appropriate resources, and assist in accessing physical and online materials for learning and recreation.
  • Support individuals and groups utilising library databases and services, offering demonstrations as needed.
  • Conduct library cataloguing following established procedures and perform circulation functions such as loans, holds, and returns.
  • Assist in acquiring, processing, and maintaining physical resources for the library collection, including routine audits and stocktaking.
  • Collaborate in organising displays and events promoting library services, including author visits and clubs.
  • Assist with academic referencing copyright standards and supervising students when required.
