As the Bookings & Admissions Team Leader you will responsible for providing operational direction through the Administration Manager and manage the efficient and effective bookings, admissions and switchboard of the Northern Beaches Hospital.

Customer Service is expected to be exceptional and this is reflected by positive patient experience. The Team Leader role requires a hands-on approach to all areas of responsibility, with a significant supervisory component.


In this role you will ensure that the department procedures are in place to provide a quality service, managing change, implementing strategies and review of department processes.

Rostering for the switchboard (24 hour rotating roster) and admissions team (Monday - Friday).

Including a particular focus on ensuring accurate patient eligibility confirmation for all health funds, Public, DVA, third party insurers, workers compensation, self-insured persons including the collection of patient out of pockets.


You will also participate in developing the departments operational plan in consultation with the Manager, staff and other stakeholders along with working as part of the health care team, adhering to Healthscope and NBH policies and procedures, participating in working groups (as required), whilst demonstrating a commitment to quality improvement through National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, EQuiPNational, Work Health and Safety (WHS) and achievement of NBH accreditation.


To be successful in this role, you will also possess the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working within private health care
  • Knowledge of patient administration admission systems
  • Knowledge of health fund / DVA / third party / workers compensation contracts
  • Demonstrated people leadership and supervisory skills (Lead from the front)
  • Established planning and organizational skills
  • Efficient and effective rostering
  • Welldeveloped problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Selfdirected and motivated with the ability to effectively plan and prioritise
  • Previous experience with WebPAS
  • Experience in managing/undertaking switchboard functions
  • Welldeveloped professional communication skills (written and spoken)
