About us


Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state's energy system.

We are playing a critical role in helping to meet the Queensland Government's renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland's clean energy future

The role
The Remuneration and Benefits Principal will be responsible for developing the QLD Hydro remuneration framework and benefits strategy.

This is role whereby the Principal can provide innovative solutions to attract, retain and motivate talent to support our growth.

You will work closely with the People and Capability Manager to support the development of the framework and strategy, which will take into consideration the needs of our team members within a project environment.

As Qld Hydro is a new organisation, this is a key role to support enhancing the Company's profile as the best place to work.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a competitive remuneration framework in alignment with the industry standards that has flexibility.
  • Prepare job descriptions, job analysis, job evaluations and job classifications.
  • Research and develop strategies to attract and retain talent taking into consideration a regional footprint.
  • Implement a contemporary benefits program for Qld Hydro
  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues and best practices.
  • Use various methods and techniques and make databased decisions on direct financial, indirect financial and nonfinancial compensations.
  • Support managers in their decisions regarding compensation packages and ways to motivate employees.
  • Provide insights and reports on market and trends.

About you
To be considered for this position you will ideally possess:

  • Degree level qualification in Human Resources, Economics, Commerce, or Psychology
  • Three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience or knowledge of working in state owned entities (desirable)
  • Practical experience in the field of compensation
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of job evaluation and job analysis systems
  • Previous experience with organisational psychology and labour market surveys
  • Awareness of current labour rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with various types of incentives and benefits
  • Ability to be adaptive and innovative.
