The Department of Justice and Community Safety is in search of an Information Technology Coordinator to play a key role within Corrections and Justice Services.

About the Business Unit

The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, including Corrections Victoria, Justice Health, and Justice Services, plays a vital role in building safer and more resilient communities and delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.

Corrections Victoria oversees policies, programs, and services that ensure the secure containment of prisoners and focuses on rehabilitating offenders by addressing the root causes of their behavior.

As a part of the CJS group, DPFC is a 694-bed maximum-security facility for female offenders located in the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice.

About the Role

Reporting to the Performance and Planning Manager, the IT Coordinator at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre is responsible for efficiently managing technology resources for staff and women. This includes ensuring proper resource management, safeguarding them from misuse, and compliance with technology policies and guidelines. The ITC will oversee technology-related projects and collaborate with the Facilities Manager to ensure timely and budget-compliant implementation of works and upgrades.

This role may involve direct interaction with prisoners and could require weekend and public holiday shifts, compensated according to VPS Determination provisions.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support and training to DPFC staff and management on local technology resources.
  • Coordinating with DJCS & CV Technology Services on project deployments, installations, or repairs of DPFC technology equipment and prisoner computers.
  • Serving as a system administrator for DPFC local systems, such as the Visit Booking System and the Electronic Compliance System. Supervising design aspects, user needs, system requirements, and staff communication.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and maintaining data management systems is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of recent technological advancements in facilities management is highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • Desirable qualification in a technology-related field.
