QAIHC is a non-partisan peak organisation representing all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ATSICCHOs) across Queensland at both state and national level.

The members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities.

QAIHC was established in 1990.

Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and wellbeing experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland.

QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland through evidence based, practical public policy solutions.


At its core, QAIHC is an inclusive, collaborative, respectful and progressive organisation committed to nurturing leadership and self-determination on behalf of its members and communities.

They do this by displaying diversity through entrenched values including respect, empathy, trust and all-encompassing advocacy and access to services for all members.


As a pivotal member of the executive leadership team, the General Manager, Policy and Research is the single point of accountability and has operational responsibility for the Sector Development division.

The division's focus is working closely with the sector and QAIHC's members to lead and build the organisational capacity and capability of QAIHCs Member Services across Queensland through leadership development, education, workforce planning, a Continuous Quality Improvement framework (quality standards and quality management), and through the promotion of a socially equitable funding model and system.


This role will influence and develop strategy, policies, priorities and operational practices, leading highly complex and sensitive projects, and coordinating the professional development of the sector.

You will also provide high level advice to the CEO and Board on issues relating to sector development, and engage broadly across a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate, effective and fit for purpose partnerships and outcomes.


To be successful in this role you will be a strategic and values driven leader with demonstrated success developing high performing and engaged teams.

You will have a track record of success in leading programs of work relevant to building capability and capacity in organisations, either in a membership or community based environment relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

In particular, you will be well versed in issues relating to leadership development, education and workforce planning within a health service context.

You will be a natural, inspiring and engaging communicator with the ability to build strong and productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and represent your organisation with integrity and authenticity.

Tertiary qualifications in Business, Health Management or equivalent are highly desirable. It is a firm requirement that this role be based in Brisbane.
