Vinnies is all about providing a hand up to people in need. One of the ways we do this is by offering pre-loved goods to the community at affordable prices.

Every dollar we make in our Vinnies stores goes back into the community by supporting specialist programs to assist homelessness and poverty.

Currently with 27 stores in and around Canberra, Vinnies already operates a retail store near you. Our stores are staffed by retail professionals supported by our generous volunteers. We've had considerable growth and are now expanding and adding an additional Area Manager to the Canberra region.

The Opportunity


Reporting to the Director, Commercial Operations, the Area Manager is primarily focused on working with Retail Managers to ensure that the shops deliver high quality retail operations that align with the vision and strategic goals of the Society, as outlined in its strategic plan.

The Area Manager will lead and support Retail Managers to create and maintain a working environment and culture that is built on the wellbeing of people, transparent communication, and clear performance expectations.


About you


To be successful in this role you will have strong leadership capabilities and proven retail leadership/management skills along with creative merchandising skills.

You will be a people person who has the demonstrated capacity to engage and motivate teams to achieve high performance through leading by example and providing effective training and coaching across all areas of retail operation.


You will have an engaging personality with the proven communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a diverse range of people across the community.

Your demonstrated experience leading teams, building a positive culture, and delivering on the core values of the organisation are essential.
