Norco Co-operative Ltd was established in 1895 and has grown from a regional dairy co-operative to a national force in Rural Retailing, Agribusiness and Food Manufacturing.


Norco is now one of the largest dairy co-operatives on the East Coast of Australia and has a proud history of serving rural communities.


The role:


Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of the Norco AgriSolutions - Commodities business division, overseeing the purchase and sales of commodities for the Norco mills, Norco Members and external customers.

In addition, you will also be required to trade grain and meals.

This is a full-time permanent position, based in Toowoomba.

Key responsibilities of this role:

  • Management of Commodities Business Unit
  • Maintain key customer and supplier relationships.
  • Develop trading strategy to actively promote grain sales and purchases.
  • Ensure maintenance of grain trade profitability.
  • Manage stock to customer demand (seasonally).
  • Provide key customers with grain price forecasts and feedback.
  • Monitor and manage logistics and freight.
  • Complete annual sales forecasts and other regular reporting.
  • Understand the grain position each day and Norco's exposure to the market.
  • Manage any customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.

Skills and experience required to succeed in this position:

  • Tertiary qualification in a commercial field with a minimum of 5 years relevant trading experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Understanding of rural Queensland and New South communities.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships using highly developed listening, interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to think proactively in developing business strategies with a flexible can do attitude.
