About the Role


The Residential Duty Officer will be responsible to ensure the after-business hours safety, security and welfare of students, staff, visitors and the college buildings and contents.


This role requires the right person to be able to deliver a high level of pastoral care to the residential students and proper surveillance of the campus.

Each year, around adolescents live in residence with a large percentage of this group being female.

The Residential Duty Officer works with a team of 3 casual Duty Officers to provide security and supervisory services between 16:30 and 01:30 on weeknights and between 07:30 and 01:30 on weekends.

The Residential Duty Officer main duties are to;

  • Provide afterhours support, security and supervision of residential guests in particular residential students.
  • Ensure protection and privacy for residents.
  • Maintain security of college campus buildings, livestock, motor vehicles and property including the swimming pool.
  • Provide afterhours reception services for visitors, course participants, parents and other College users.
  • Adhere to the Duty Officer's manual

About you


To be successful in this role, you'll need strong communication skills as you will be liaising with students, staff, visitors and guests.

You must also be confident in knowing when to escalate welfare and security issues with relevant staff and authorities, flexible as the structure of a shift can change depending on what groups are on site and what issues have unfolded and a problem solver as afterhours staff support is available mostly in emergency situations.


Essential requirements

  • Registered course in First Aid (may be undertaken subsequent to appointment)
  • Class 1A Security License (may be applied for upon being appointed)
  • Current Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain prior to or on appointment
  • Current NSW Driver License and the ability and willingness to travel
  • Foundational level of Word and Outlook
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise student and site needs
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable requirements

  • Heavy vehicles or truck license
