About the role


The role of Payroll Officer - Workers Compensation is to facilitate and process workers compensation payments using Kronos and Chris21 on a fortnightly basis.


The successful applicant will also be responsible for updating Solv Injury with details of payments made and using same to claim reimbursements from insurers.


The Payroll Officer - Workers Compensation will also play a key role in assisting managers on what leave types and pay codes to enter into Kronos to capture when employees are unfit to work, working on restricted duties or when no suitable duties are available.

The role is to be performed with high standards of service to both internal and external customers.


The Payroll Officer - Workers Compensation will work in accordance with the philosophy, mission and vision of Calvary and ensure that the values of healing, hospitality, stewardship and respect are reflected in undertaking the duties of the position.


Duties include but are not limited to:
Calculate Pre-Injury Average Weekly Earnings (PIAWE or AWE) for each new claim.
Enter the confirmed PIAWE / AWE into the Solv Injury claim management system.

Calculate and enter the details of injured workers' hours and earnings into Solv Injury and generate weekly workers compensation payments in Chris21.

Save relevant workers compensation documentation in accordance with the managing electronic employee files procedures.

Claim weekly compensation reimbursements from the insurer and track the amounts claimed and recovered within the weekly entitlements section of Solv Injury.

Run fortnightly and monthly reports from Solv Injury for provision of data to the finance team.
Run monthly report from Solv Injury for provision to insurers in relation to outstanding reimbursements.

Support the Payroll Officers and Service Centre/Admin staff in the processing of payroll and respond to a range of queries from both management and employees.

Ensure that payroll administration is efficient and effective and responsive to managers' and staff needs

About you
Previous experience in a similar position

Demonstrated knowledge of workers compensation and injury management related legislation, policies, benefits and entitlements as applied to payroll related transactions.

Significant experience using a number of workers compensation, injury management and payroll processing systems to perform a range of data processing and reporting functions.

Demonstrated ability to accurately process payroll related information to meet competing deadlines in a high volume work environment.
Strong ability to adapt, learn and support new processes and systems quickly.
Strong customer service experience and ability to collaborate within the team and with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work well under pressure to deliver desired results.
