About the Role:

This is a Permanent Full-Time position at 1.0 FTE within Health Information Services.

You will be responsible for Casemix and clinical documentation education, clinical coding audits, and the management of PICQ (Performance Indicators for Coding Quality) and RISQ (Relative Indicators of Safety and Quality) tools. You will also be responsible for completing coding and indexing of hospital separations in an accurate and timely manner using the ICD-10-AM and ACHI classification systems and Australian Coding Standards.

Classification for this position will range from JB10 – JB13 (base salary $102,091 to $116,646 per annum, plus superannuation)

What You'll Achieve:

  • Respond to requests for Casemix data and assist with the dissemination of information to clinical staff
  • Provide ongoing Casemix education to clinicians and other health professionals
  • Perform targeted clinical coding audits for NWAU optimisation
  • Manage the RISQ (Relative Indicators of Safety and Quality) tool and monitor and review HAC (hospital acquired complication) coder justifications and rates
  • Manage the PICQ (Performance Indicators for Coding Quality) tool and develop measures to improve coding quality and prevent future errors
  • Accurate and timely completion of clinical coding, with adherence to ICD-10-AM and the Australian Coding Standards

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent
  • Eligible for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience as a Health Information Manager in clinical coding
  • Retrospective clinical coding auditing experience is desirable

Health Information Services (HIS) provides a range of services for The Royal Children's Hospital including patient documentation scanning, clinical coding and Casemix education, updating and managing access to patient information, medical transcription, data correction and mandatory dataset submission.
