Responsibilities:

This role can be full or part-time depending on negotiations with the successful candidate.

As a Hands-on Learning/Engage ES based at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College, you will mentor and collaborate with small groups of students outside the traditional classroom setting.

You will be part of our Engage team and report to our Leadership Team and the Engage Leader.

This role involves:

  • Supporting and delivering the newly developed KWRSC Engage/Hands-on Learning program at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College
  • Providing an onsite alternative education program to help students at risk of disengagement from school, facing social and/or emotional barriers affecting their learning and potential
  • Supporting young people by fostering strong relationships to keep them engaged in school and encourage positive behaviors
  • Developing and implementing practical projects with real significance
  • Maintaining accurate records and gathering evidence to track student progress
  • Implementing program components to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality initiatives
  • Establishing connections with local businesses and the community to create opportunities for community projects
  • Collaborating with the wider staff team at Koo Wee Rup Secondary College as needed to execute the programs
  • Assisting in various aspects of our newly developed KWRSC Engage programs and HoL

This role requires:

  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities
  • Experience working effectively in a team environment
  • Capability to handle various behaviors impacting learning and respond to individual student needs
  • Experience working with young individuals
Detailed training in the KWRSC Engage programs, including Hands-on Learning methodologies, will be provided.
