Role:


This role includes a teaching load in the applied learning area as well as responsibility across schools in the Casey South Network for engagement programs for students from Polynesian and Pacific Islands backgrounds, including Maori, Samoan and Cook Islands.


The successful applicant will work as part of an engagement across a number of locations to ensure that students are culturally, socially and academically engaged in all aspects of school and family life.


Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • To utilise Maori and Pasifika languages, specifically Samoan, Cook Island, Maori.
  • Assist Maori and Pasifika students on an individual or group basis.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with students, coworkers, leaders, student support services and the general public.
  • Work as a member of a team ie: with classroom teachers, the Integration Team, Learning Support coordinator, student wellbeing coordinators, visiting teachers and parents.
  • Maintain and collate Maori and Pasifika student profiles.
  • Assist in the preparation of resources and materials.¿
  • Participate in Student Support Group meetings, when required.
  • Maintain complete trust and confidentiality with students, teachers and parents.
  • Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and the evaluation of individual students with other teachers, leaders and the Inclusion and wellbeing Team.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Follow existing processes, guidelines and established procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, leaders, students and the general public.
  • Perform duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner in accordance with the College Values, the Victorian Public Sector Code of Conduct and all local policies and codes of conduct.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety procedures and staff policies and protocols.
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
  • Other duties as requested by the Principal/Assistant Principal.

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
