The Role

The Training Officer Trainee role is to provide inductions, training, and competency assessments for internal employees, as well as providing on-going training to support Dargues mine with maintaining a safe and efficient workforce.


Key Responsibilities

Training and Competency -

  • Provide administrative support including reporting of site systems, including Sharepoint, Pegasus and INX InControl.
  • Conduct Fitness for Work Assessments including Fatigue Assessments, and Drug and Alcohol Testing; communicate the results to Site.
  • Coordinate site incident/injury and Return to Work (RTW) process and monitor correct input of all data.
  • Assist in determining training requirements through training needs analyses.
  • Assist in developing training and assessment plans to achieve training requirements.
  • Maintaining an accurate training skills matrix.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing and managing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Safe Work Instructions (SWI's).
  • Training and assessing personnel, including Verification of Competency (VOC) where required.
  • Effectively communicating with all stakeholders when planning training, including consulting with process area owners beforehand.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in training initiatives, particularly competency standards and government initiatives.
  • Assisting in incident investigations where required and implementing any training related controls.

Emergency Response -

  • Assist in Preparedness and Response for an emergency incident inline with the site Emergency Response Plan.
  • Emergency Preparedness by coordinating training, emergency drills and the provision of emergency equipment of Workers.
  • Understand, communicate the requirements of, and monitor compliance to the Emergency Management Plan.
  • Maintain up to date Emergency Procedures, Emergency Plans and documentation and make them readily available.

About You
To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or the ability to obtain.
  • Relevant WHS qualification. Cert III Emergency Response (desirable)
  • Ability to deliver Confined Spaces and Working at Heights training (desirable)
  • Superior scheduling, planning and recordkeeping skills.
