The Role

The Team Leader Resource Recovery Programs will lead and coordinate the team to develop and implement innovative engagement initiatives and behaviour change programs that respond to critical waste and resource recovery issues affecting Council and the community.
  • This opportunity will be offered on a permanent full-time basis

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop cross-functional approaches and solutions with internal stakeholders, especially the Waste Operations and Sustainable Future Planning and Strategy teams, to address waste and resource recovery issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, initiatives, resources and campaigns to ensure they achieve their aims and objectives.
  • Lead, manage and inspire team members towards the shared vision, values and strategy of the Council.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Council's Community Plan, Four Year Delivery Program, Budgets, Annual Report, State of Environmental Report and Quarterly Reviews.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to contribute to the development and evaluation of waste and resource recovery strategies, plans and policies with a focus on customer facing programs.
  • Provide specialist advice to Council, government, industry and community stakeholders on waste and resource recovery initiatives, programs, and issues, with a focus on education, engagement and behaviour change strategies and approaches.

You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Education, Communications, Marketing or similar, and/or relevant industry experience supported by waste and resource recovery experience.
  • Previous experience working in or with Local or State Government in a similar role.
  • Class 'C' Driver's Licence. (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team to successfully develop community facing engagement, education and/or behaviour change programs, initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Experience in translating complex issues into accessible and tangible programs, resources, and plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in research and in using data to evaluate programs, and to inform actions and improvements.
  • High level customer service and community engagement skills.
  • Good working knowledge of key waste, recycling and resource recovery issues, challenges, services and programs.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation and consultation, and the ability to communicate with stakeholders to navigate effectively through complex issues and competing priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to work some weekends and nights

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $118,408 (Grade J, Step % super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
