About Neonatal Services

The Neonatal ICU is a tertiary-level neonatal unit where specialist care is provided to premature and very unwell babies from across the state. With 27 NICU cots and 32 SCN cots, approximately 1, babies are admitted each year ( admits to NICU). Neonatal Services also has a key role in providing education and training for local, national and international health professionals.

About the role

As the Director Neonatal Services (Medical) you will act as a key member of the Women's Leadership Team and in partnership with the Director Neonatal Services (Nursing) provide visible and inspirational leadership and strategic and operational direction, to ensure the division continues to deliver effective, efficient and integrated high-quality, evidence based clinical services. Neonatal Services is a leading international contributor to neonatal research, with a strong focus on translating research findings into clinical practice.
As a senior clinical leader of our organisation, you will be able to use your demonstrated experience in building, leading, and motivating broad, diverse, and complex multidisciplinary teams to support high level clinical governance, data integrity, effective financial management and a commitment to improving quality, as well as ensuring a physically and psychologically safe workplace for your team.

Key responsibilities will see you:

Provide strategic and clinical leadership across Neonatal Services and develop the divisions annual service plan, and contribute to achieving the Women's strategic prioritiesFoster a culture of performance accountability within the division to ensure all team managers and clinical leaders achieve their targetsRepresent the Women's on external committees at a Parkville Precinct, West Metro Health Service Partnership and state-wide levelDrive our commitment to research and learning through your participation and supervision of a range of research and continuous improvement activities

About you

You will be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence, and build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You'll bring with you:

Medical Practitioner registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and an appropriate postgraduate qualification (FRACP or recognised equivalent) in PaediatricsSenior leadership and operational management experience within a complex health environment, including demonstrated knowledge of health funding, legislative and regulatory requirements, and the ability to drive and meet strategic, operational, clinical and financial targetsDemonstrated understanding of the importance of clinical governance, timely, high quality patient care, excellence in clinical practice, and improving the patient experienceA positive and effective track record of leading innovation, continuous improvement, research and change managementA commitment to developing and enhancing clinical services that recognise the impact of social, cultural and gender determinants on health and wellbeingDemonstrated experience building a culture that promotes gender equity, respect and a safe working environment and understand cultural safety, violence against women and family violence
