The Royal Children's Hospital Emergency Department is seeking suitable applicants to fill the role of Registrar in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.

Starting dates will be either February 2024 or in August 202- Full or Part-time

  • The hospital has full accreditation with Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) as a PEM placement from 2023 onwards.
  • Also accredited with FRACP for trainees in Paediatrics
  • Applications from GPs or trainees in RACGP or ACRRM are very welcome

Highlights:

  • Rotating roster including the 'Fast Track' treatment of injuries, resuscitation area, general treatment area and waiting room 'RAPID' team for early decisionmaking.
  • 5 hours of paid protected teaching time per week (or prorata) from an enthusiastic education team. Includes a daily consultantdelivered insitu skills and simulation program, regular neonatal and radiology teaching sessions, external rostered sessions with orthopaedics and anaesthesia, and new coscheduled stream based on the ACEM fellowship examination format.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of presentations including paediatric acute medical care, statewide trauma referrals and emergency management of children with complex longterm care needs
  • Supervision from an experienced consultant team all of whom have joint PEM training, with a mix of FRACP and FACEM qualifications
  • A highly productive Emergency Medicine Research Group with a strong culture of research embedded within the clinical operation of the department, and the option to participate in current or future projects.
  • Work with a vibrant and experienced Nurse Practitioner, Nursing and Allied Health team in an environment where the teambased approach is of utmost importance.
