Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation in addition to providing wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff at the University of Melbourne.

About the Role

The responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and execute operational plans to ensure the University Colleges and Residential Life strategic objectives are met
  • Ensure that the University provides an optimal service for residents and prospective residents in understanding and choosing residential accommodation and in taking up an offered place
  • Lead, motivate, manage and coach staff within Residential Services to achieve goals, embed a culture of service excellence to meet client service delivery expectations and work effectively with the broader shared service teams
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives across residential life to improve both the student experience and the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
  • Embed a culture of service excellence and ensure that the unit has people with the skills capabilities and tools necessary to meet client service delivery expectations and work effectively with the broader shared service teams.
  • Work productively with the University's operators, suppliers, investors and other stakeholders, both internally and externally, to improve residential services at the University
  • Deputizes for the Director when and as required

About You
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate your prior record of delivery in relation to:

  • A postgraduate qualification plus at least five years' experience in student accommodation or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Demonstrate University values by acting in the best interest of your employer; displaying service excellence by striving to deliver beyond expectations and taking ownership of the delivery; and value working collaboratively, connecting with people and building relationships in your workplace
  • A developed understanding of student accommodation delivery, ideally in a university or other tertiary education environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication skills with diverse stakeholder groups and the ability to influence
  • Innovative approach to problemsolving and delivering value
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities, particular in a complex environment
