The role

A major international food service and restaurant chain has an opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager (Risk & Recovery Lead Health, Fire & Food Safety) to join the company, working to ensure that their Risk & Compliance strategy is best-in-class. Reporting to the Operations Risk & Compliance Lead, you will lead a team of 2 Safety Managers and be an integral part of a dedicated team of Health & Safety, Food Safety, Fire Safety and Risk Management professionals.

We are looking for someone who can translate technical risk and safety knowledge into practical strategies, analysing performance data and audits to drive continuous improvements. You will work closely with the Operations Compliance Manager and Food Safety Manager to understand risk areas, leading the recovery programme to address performance improvement opportunities.

  • Work collaboratively with other functions across the business including Central Operations, Field Operations Sustainability, and Construction and Development, to effectively manage risk.
  • Manage our relationship with our Primary Authority partners for Environmental Health and Fire Safety to develop, review and assure policies and processes.
  • Keep abreast of any changes or updates to legislation or industry guidance to ensure we are proactive in compliance with our legislative requirements.
  • Lead the way in ensuring all our restaurants meet the highest standards.
  • Liaise with operational teams to respond to regulatory contact in a timely and professional manner.

We are looking for a great communicator with an engaging, proactive approach to promote a positive safety culture and build good working relationships. This is a home-based hybrid role with national travel, so a full driving licence is essential we are ideally looking for someone based in the Midlands or South.

Your background

  • Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or Risk Management.
  • Safety, risk or compliance experience in either the private or public sector.
  • Food service or retail sector background would be a huge benefit.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading people would be advantageous.
  • Managing complex investigations into safety-related incidents and accidents.
  • Track record of managing both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good level of operational and people & culture knowledge.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and manage multiple projects.
  • Passion for risk management and creating a positive safety culture.
