About the Role
"Contributing as part of a small self-insurance team, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the rehabilitation and return to work strategy for Queensland Rail workers who have sustained a physical or psychological injury at work by positively engaging with multiple stakeholders to achieve sustainable injury outcomes"

key responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Facilitate early and safe, person-centred rehabilitation and return to work of workers with work-related injuries or illnesses in accordance with the Accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Program (ARRTWP), the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act aligned to the self insurance performance standard.
  • Provide active and responsive case management ensuring that services are procedurally fair, timely, proactive and supportive.
  • Coordinate, develop and maintain written rehabilitation and return to work plans for a variety of complex cases
  • Maintain collaborative communication with all stakeholders to facilitate and guide the rehabilitation and return to work process.
  • Approve reasonable costs of medical and allied health treatment and rehabilitation in accordance with evidencebased healthcare.
  • Provide support and education to the workplace to ensure that employer obligations are met.

What we are looking for:

This role would suit someone who has prior experience working for a self-insured employer in Queensland. Applicants with Tertiary qualifications in health or behavioural sciences would be advantageous but not essential.

You will also bring;

  • Contemporary thinking, empathy for injured workers and a proactive approach to injury management.
  • Knowledge of Queensland selfinsurance principles and best practice rehabilitation and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Strong consultation, influencing, negotiation and relationship building skills to drive and implement commercial health services outcomes.
  • Analytical skills, complemented by strong communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary injury management practices and current trends in rehabilitation services.
  • High level of skill in managing complex Workers' Compensation claims including initiating relevant early intervention rehabilitation programs.
