Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Santos Ltd Full time

About Us

  • Santos is a global energy company committed to increasingly cleaner energy and fuels production, with operations across Australia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and North America.

At Santos, our commitment is to be a global leader in the transition to cleaner energy and clean fuels, by helping the world decarbonise to reach Net-Zero emissions in an affordable and sustainable way.

Santos is one of Australia's biggest domestic gas suppliers, a leading LNG supplier in the Asia Pacific region.

We are committed to supplying the critical fuels such as oil and gas in a more sustainable way through decarbonising projects such as the Moomba CCS project, while we all transition to cleaner fuels.

For more than 65 years Santos has been working in partnership with local communities, providing local jobs and business opportunities, safely and sustainably developing its natural gas resources, and powering industries and households.

As customer demand evolves, Santos will grow and develop its cleaner energy and clean fuels, including hydrogen through carbon capture and storage, nature-based offsets, energy efficiency and use of renewables in its operations.

To deliver the transition and our Purpose and Vision, Santos has a regional operating model with a strong local focus.

The company's operating structure comprises three regional business units focused on enabling and executing corporate strategy.

Two functional divisions - Santos Energy Solutions and Santos Upstream Gas and Liquids - are accountable for global portfolio management and strategy.

About the Role

  • We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Adviser to join our Brisbane office team.

Reporting to the Team Leader Environmental Assurance, the purpose of this role is to undertake compliance and assurance activities in support of Santos onshore oil and gas activities to ensure business compliance with statutory obligations and industry standards across QLD, NSW and SA.

To be effective in this role you will play a key part in:

  • Identifying and understanding environmental legal requirements for onshore exploration, development, production and rehabilitation activities across various Australian jurisdictions
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with relevant government and Santos internal stakeholders
  • Assisting internal stakeholders with interpretation of environmental approval requirements and conditions
  • Critically review proposed changes to environmental regulation and policy and identifying impacts to the business
  • Leading the implementation of environmental management plans and procedures within the Santos Management System
  • Participate in the development of environmental management specifications, procedures, plans and guidelines relevant to Santos onshore activities
  • Manage the development and execution of the proactive environmental inspection and audit programs
  • Developing and delivering environmental training to relevant stakeholders across the business.
  • Conducting environmental assessment of operational field assets and activities, identify hazards and prepare corrective action reports.
  • Contributing to delivery of cost reduction efficiencies and value creation strategies
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environment standards for performance and behaviour.
We are a global energy company committed to increasingly cleaner energy and fuels production.

We are a Global Energy company - not an Oil and Gas Operator

About You

It is a highly rewarding time to join the team in a role that will allow you to liaise with other areas of the business and build on your knowledge of environmental approvals within the Oil & Gas sector, as well as partake in onsite visits and play a lead role across the onshore division.

If you feel you meet the criteria required, we would love to hear from you.
