Venture Smart is a 50/50 joint venture (JV) between
Ventia and
Johnson Controls (JCI) providing electrical and Intelligent Transportation System maintenance and project works and services for Main Roads WA and other private clients.


As a pivotal member of the
Venture Smart leadership team, you will be responsible for the governance, management and day to day leadership of all commercial and business processes required to support operations, ensuring the achievement of parent company and client objectives.

You will work closely with the business to foster a commercially aware and client focused culture.

Main responsibilities for this role will include:

Commercial:

  • Fostering a commercially aware and clientfocused culture
  • Optimising business and commercial systems and processes
  • Precontracts activity for new client / tender opportunities including: contract reviews, departure preparation, pricing reviews and R&O development
  • Act as commercial interface and representative with key client stakeholders and supply chain to work through commercial matters arising
  • Oversight of new supply chain contract setup, departures negotiation, and variations
  • Ensuring compliance with JV agreements, and delivery of commitments
  • Delivery of commercial awareness and compliance training to staff
  • Driving a focus on continuous improvement and profitability

Finance:

  • Support delivery of achievement of business financial targets
  • Participating in month end accounting reviews and budgetary process
  • Designing and creating data reports, models and analysis to provide insights to support decision making

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide support and guidance as required to direct reports and the wider team
  • Developing, retaining and mentoring a high performing team
  • Be a champion of lifelong learning and continuous improvement processes
  • Identify opportunities to bridge learning gaps within the team
  • Develop and maintain effective external stakeholder relationships
  • Assisting to drive, encourage and support work life balance initiatives

Safety:

  • Demonstrating commitment to SHEQ through active participation in SHEQ initiatives
  • Supporting a culture of "Safety and Health above all else" and environmental responsibility
  • Degree in relevant field (finance / business / commercial) or equivalent experience gained in the workplace
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an equivalent position
  • SAP finance system highly desirable, but not mandatory
  • Advanced Microsoft office user all packages with a particular focus on MS Excel
  • Experience of SharePoint advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage with senior client, management and all levels of the project delivery team
  • Conflict management and negotiation
  • Professionalism and relationship management
  • Working knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts and mechanisms including AS212
  • Strong analytical skills
