Our People Communications and Engagement branch connects, inspires and empowers the people of Transport to deliver on our strategic objectives and bring our cultural aspirations to life.


Our team create and deliver strategy and plans that connect meaningful engagement activity to business outcomes, impactful and creative content and innovative campaigns.


We tell Transport's story, drive positive change and are helping to build culture that puts customer at the centre, people at the heart and delivers outcomes for the greater good.


The opportunity


We have exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Communications and Engagement to join our team to work within our People and Culture division of Transport for NSW.


This role works collaboratively with business partners to ensure communication and engagement needs of the many and diverse audience groups across our Engineering & Maintenance branch in our Greater Sydney division.


Your role is to lead a team to develop and implement high value, future-focused internal communication and engagement strategies to help team Transport deliver its strategic agenda.


Key priorities/ deliverables


Working with SMEs in the business to understand their business objectives and needs to enable your team to create and deliver meaningful communication and engagement strategies that support our people and influence positive behavioural change in line with strategic business objectives.


This will involve:

  • Creating, delivering and evaluating communication and engagement strategies
  • Building content and narratives to support those strategies to reach broad and targeted audiences
  • Building strong and collaborative relationships with business partners and colleagues across the Cluster
  • Managing and empowering your team to deliver results in a fastpaced dynamic environment
  • Working in step with your peers and colleagues across the communications function to support shared success and attention to results

About you


We are looking for highly collaborative team leaders with a proven track record in delivering successful internal and/or external communications that positively engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.

You build relationships easily, and your ability to influence stakeholders and navigate competing deadlines and priorities is unquestioned.

You maintain a high standard of work, and having previously worked in a similar environment, you are aware of the political sensitivities and confidentiality in what you do.


You are a team player with a can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and solid experience operating in a complex customer centric fast paced environment.


Along with being tertiary qualified in communications, public relations, marketing (or relevant discipline) you will be self-motivated and decisive - able to work autonomously and under direction.
