Position Title:
Visiting Medical Officer - Urology Surgery up to 400 ending 30 June 2027.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

The position will be primarily located at
Nepean Hospital_ _
within the Department of Urology.**Successful applicants will be Senior Medical Staff are expected to provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient and on call specialty services as determined and required by the district.

The role includes undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and supervision.


The Urology Scope of Practice Physician will provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the Specialty Department, in particular the assessment and management of patients requiring surgery.

The number of sessions will be at least 9hrs OT weekly and participation in the call rosters.

Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

  • Possess or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
    as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and Public Hospital (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination, and Evidence of continuing medical education and selfmonitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
  • Sound clinical knowledge in Urology Demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and junior medical staff supervision consistent with contemporary best practice supervision standards.
  • Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
  • Sound clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Urology demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate postFellowship clinical experience.
  • Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research as required within the Department.
