About the Role


Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Service (HKHS) is seeking a suitably qualified Geriatrician or General Medicine Physician to work Saturdays and Sundays 6 hours per day from 9am to 3pm.

This is a temporary appointment to support winter strategy up to There is no on-call commitment.

Applicants are required to have suitable interest and experience with regards to Geriatric and/or General Medicine and be willing and able to work in a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU).


Purpose of the Position


Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service.

This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).

The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.

This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need

Selection Criteria

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians(FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in General Medicine or Geriatric Medicine in a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU).
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Evidence of and commitment to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Evidence of and commitment to medical education including the delivery of teaching programs.
  • Evidence of commitment to quality improvement methodologies.

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy
