About the role

  • Deliver high level evidencebased clinical social work assessment and intervention to patients attending the Emergency and Trauma Centre with a specific focus on acute sexual assault presentation, domestic and family violence and acute trauma.
  • The position is part of the Department of Social Work which delivers high quality Social Work services as part of the multidisciplinary team to patients of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and to their families and carers, so as to optimise the psychosocial outcomes of their utilisation of health care services.
  • The Department of Social Work delivers services through specialist teams
  • Emergency and Trauma Centre; Surgery/ICU; Women's and Newborn; Medical and Sub-Acute; Cancer Care/Chronic Illness and Sexual Assault/Child Protection.
  • Staff may be required to work in other areas within the social work department if operationally required.
  • The Emergency and Trauma Centre (ETC) Social Work Team is responsible or the provision of social work services in the RBWH ETC. This team specialises in responding to domestic and family violence, acute sexual assault and acute trauma presentations. The ETC Social Work Team is one of the only 24 hour onsite hospital social work services in Queensland and also responds to a wide range of medical and psychosocial issues including death and bereavement, child protection, elder abuse, homelessness and major health events.

Appointment to this position requires proof of Social Work qualification and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
