Mater Group is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our Adults Social Work team at Mater Hospital Brisbane. This newly created role is a part-time, permanent position (20 hours per week) that will provide social work services to the Rehabilitation Unit located at the South Brisbane campus.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver social work clinical services in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and Professional Practice standards.
- Identify and assess the complex psychosocial needs of patients, families, and carers.
- Referral and liaison with other healthcare services, government, and community agencies.
- Advocacy to promote and address the needs of patients, families, and carers.
- Participate in the development of clinical practices, procedures, and protocols within the social work department.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with patients, families, and carers, and as a member of a multidisciplinary and social work team.
- Essential – A degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work (AASW). Tertiary qualifications for social work from overseas institutions require the applicant to include official notification from AASW that the qualification has been assessed as eligible for membership.
- Desirable – Current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Experience in the provision of social work services in an acute hospital setting would be preferred.
