Executive Level 1 - Data Governance Team Lead

The Data Governance Team Lead role will report to the Director and lead the data governance stream within the Data and Information Governance team in CoDE. They will work closely with the Information Governance and Data Capability teams in uplifting IP Australia's capability for how it understands, manages, and uses its structured and unstructured data assets.

As the Data Governance lead, you will be skilled and experienced in data governance in an Australian Government environment. You will lead initiatives under IP Australia's data strategy, policies, and practices across the agency.

Position duties

As the Data Governance lead you will:

Work with our corporate areas to improve IP Australia's data governance through delivery of targeted strategies and policies. Develop mechanisms to track and measure IP Australia's initiatives for data governance, compliance, risks, and culture. Lead IP Australia's participation in Whole of Government data working groups and developing strategies to enable agency alignment. Provide technical direction, training, and advice to employees in relation to their roles and responsibilities towards data and information. Lead data governance initiatives and practices across IP Australia including the development and implementation of strategies, frameworks, policies, processes, and systems. Develop, deliver, and improve the data governance posture of IP Australia in conjunction with stakeholders. Manage diverse stakeholder relationships, both internal and external to IP Australia. Prepare responses and coordinate input for senior executive and briefings in relation to data and information matters. Implement and maintain data governance standards and guidance in line with best practice across Whole of Government. Regularly scan the horizon and undertake research and analysis where appropriate to anticipate and address issues, identify opportunities, innovative methods, trends, capabilities, and products.
