The Market Conduct and Digital Division is looking for a Director to lead the Treasury's efforts in reforming Australia's financial reporting bodies' legislative and governance arrangements.

Key responsibilities of this role as a Director in Markets Group include:

  • Lead a team to identify opportunities for enhancing policy settings and address emerging policy issues
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for the unit while managing competing priorities efficiently
  • Enhance team capability through coaching, feedback, and fostering career development
  • Cultivate productive relationships with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and academia
  • Be responsible for ministerial briefings, speech inputs, parliamentary question responses, and other official correspondence
  • Represent Treasury in government and industry gatherings

This position also requires providing guidance and support to members of the Corporations Branch in Melbourne, acting as the primary contact for organizational matters impacting the branch's operations in Melbourne.

Required and Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in corporations law and possess a contemporary understanding of Australian corporations legislation
  • Experience in policy reform and legislative development is essential
  • Prior experience in regulatory oversight, surveillance, or enforcement is highly valued
