The Opportunity


As the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Equity & Success, you will lead the development of transition pedagogy that will define a distinctive approach for our university based on international best practice and adapted to our specific Tasmanian context.

Accelerating impact to close educational gaps across equity cohorts, your role offers the opportunity to:

  • Strategically lead an integrated approach to student engagement, using proactive and reactive measures to support student academic success.
  • Optimise analysis of predictive student data to tailor interventions in areas such as course advising and course design.
  • Ensure academic elements of transforming our students' experience are well conceptualised and delivered to support the University's strategic purpose.
  • Lead a large professional team, unifying effort across the Academic Success team, Student Wellbeing, Safe and Fair Community Unit (SaFCU) and Student Engagement.

What's Required

  • Achievement of innovative and impactful programs that have delivered specific student experience and outcome improvements.
  • Experience with and/or understanding of academic research in effective use of student data analytics and development of transition pedagogy.
  • A deep understanding of higher education across research, learning and teaching, as well as academic culture and employment.
  • Proven agility to think and act strategically with respect to a longterm vision, whilst engaging with current tactical detail.

This full-time, ongoing senior management opportunity is available to be based on any of our Tasmanian campuses, in Hobart, Launceston or Burnie.

A competitive base salary will be in addition to 17% superannuation, salary packaging options, and relocation support for those considering a move to Tasmania.
