About this position


As a Coordinator Waste Management, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of waste management services that support the social, economic and environmental objectives of the City of Gosnells.

You will have experience, along with sound knowledge of the WA Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy.

You will be up to date with developments within the waste management industry as well as investigate enquiries from internal and external stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and generate revenue.


Your role will contribute to achieving Council's overarching vision and purpose for waste management and resource recovery at the City of Gosnells, provide quality and timely customer service and create value for the community.

The successful applicant will work at the City's operations centre located in Maddington.

What we are looking for

To be successful, you will have:

  • Ability to engage corporate stakeholders and the community through excellent written and verbal communication skills. This includes balancing competing priorities of multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong experience working in the waste management industry, including oversight of the day to day operations in the collection of Council waste streams.
  • Collect, analyse, interpret and present statistical information associated with the operation of the Council's waste facilities for both internal use and to meet legislative responsibilities.
  • Effectively undertake management of the procurement and delivery of works and services.
  • High level of organisational and time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a dynamic team and be accountable and responsible for own actions, as well as assisting and contributing to the team in order to achieve excellent results.

Essential requirements

  • Current National Police clearance( less than three months old)
  • Current driver's licence
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, or substantial experience in waste management industry.
