The program

Australian Red Cross and Woollahra Municipality Council (NSW) are holding a drive-thru donation event to accept preloved clothing and accessories.

Get involved with the community and help divert goods from landfill by volunteering with Red Cross at this one-day outdoor event.

Donations collected will help Red Cross Shops raise funds for the humanitarian work of Australian Red Cross, supporting people facing tough times in our communities.


The opportunity
To volunteer at this event, you should be over 16 years, fit & able to lift bags/boxes from vehicles.

You will assist us with:

  • Set up (morning shift) or pack down (afternoon shift) of the event (tables, banners, gazebos etc.)
  • Removing donations from car boots (some bags/boxes may be heavy)
  • Moving donations to a truck onsite using a trolley
  • Returning trolley to vehicle area to repeat the process
All event volunteers will need to be 16+years of age

What do I need to bring?

  • Wear closedin, comfortable shoes
  • Wear comfortable clothing (keep in mind it may get dirty)
  • Personal sun protective gear (hat, sunglasses)
  • Personal rain appropriate gear if needed (please check weather forecast ahead of the event)
  • Own dietaryspecific snacks if required
  • Bring a reusable water bottle as this is a singleuse plastic free event
You will meet us at Lyne Park - Google Maps (Vickery Ave), New South Head Road, Rose Bay NSW 2029

The nearest public transport are bus stops located right outside the park on New South Head Road

No experience is necessary, you will be provided with training on the day

The impact

Each year we rescue 450 tonnes of clothing from landfill, give opportunities to 5000 volunteers, and generate funds to help Red Cross support vulnerable people in Australia and around the world.

The proceeds from the sale of items support the vital everyday work of Red Cross, providing relief in times of crisis and care where it's needed most.
