About the role

Bequests are a significant revenue stream for Australian Red Cross (ARC), annually contributing between $12-25M, which equates to over 20% of the total Engagement and Support (E&S) budget.

The Bequest Paralegal will focus on providing legal support on the estate administration of bequests, which will include:

• Collaborate with the Bequest Administrator, ARC's external law firm and internal Legal Counsel on managing all contested estates; and
• Working across general estate administration which includes but is not limited to reviewing and releasing legal documents, approval of legal fees and executor/solicitor commissions; and
• Providing general support to the Bequest Administrator on interpreting legal documents and escalating to our Legal Counsel when required.

What you will bring

• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and collaboratively as part of a team
• Excellent collaboration and communication with key stakeholders
• Ability to work closely and effectively with the preferred external legal providers
• Experience in reviewing legal documents and drafting correspondence
• Ability to respond to information requests from third parties, including collating relevant information from internal stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at various levels
• Welldeveloped analytical, problem solving and decision making abilities
• Highly developed oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple and complex tasks
• Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and to negotiate "best possible" outcomes in conflict situations
• Ability to conduct legal research into issues relevant to the operation of the bequests team
• Previous relevant experience in the handing of bequests, wills or estates
