The program
Australian Red Cross and Uber are holding a nationwide donation event to accept quality preloved clothing.

Get involved with the community and help divert goods from landfill by volunteering with Red Cross at this one-day outdoor event.

Donations collected will help Red Cross Shops raise funds for the humanitarian work of Australian Red Cross, supporting people facing tough times in our communities.


The opportunity
To volunteer at this event, you should be over 16 years, fit & able to lift bags/boxes from vehicles.

Our Red Cross Event Support Volunteers will assist us with:

  • Set up (morning shift) or pack down (afternoon/evening shift) of the event.
  • Removing donations from cars and onto trucks onsite (some bags/boxes may be heavy).
  • Removing donations from trucks and onto a shipping container onsite (some bags/boxes may be heavy).
  • Sorting clothing donations.
What do you need to bring?

  • Wear closedin, comfortable shoes.
  • Wear comfortable clothing (keep in mind it may get dirty).
  • Personal sun protective gear (hat, sunglasses).
  • Personal rain appropriate gear if needed (please check weather forecast ahead of the event).
  • Own dietaryspecific snacks if required.
  • We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to limit singleuse plastic.
  • Red Cross will provide masks & gloves but if you prefer you can bring your own.
How do you get there?

  • You will meet us at 3/149 Mitchell Rd, Erskineville NSW 2043
No experience is necessary as you will be provided with training on the day.


Australian Red Cross welcomes volunteer applicants of a diverse range of backgrounds, ages, and abilities, so if you have some spare time and want to give back to your community we'd love to hear from you.


The impact

Each year we rescue 450 tonnes of clothing from landfill, give opportunities to 5000 volunteers, and generate funds to help Red Cross support vulnerable people in Australia and around the world.

The proceeds from the sale of items support the vital everyday work of Red Cross, providing relief in times of crisis and care where it's needed most.
