Overview of the business unit:

The Emergency Management unit at the Department of Justice and Community Safety collaborates closely with government and various agencies in the emergency management sector. Led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management, this unit encompasses the department's emergency management responsibilities and statutory entities.

Welcome to a dynamic role as the MSAR Senior Training and Assessment Officer:

  • Develop and execute statewide training and assessment strategies
  • Create and update training resources for marine search and rescue operations
  • Offer guidance to volunteer MSAR units to ensure compliance with relevant regulations

This position, based in Melbourne, involves after-hours work and frequent travel across the state to support the Volunteer MSAR sector.

Key qualifications and skills for the MSAR Senior Training and Assessment Officer:

  • Experience in emergency response within the marine search and rescue domain
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate training programs across multiple locations
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent
