Department: Department of Justice and Community Safety

  • Capability Development Officer, Marine Rescue - Ongoing VPS4 role available
  • Exciting career opportunity within Emergency Management
  • VPS4 salary range: $92,332 to $104,762 plus superannuation

Overview of the Business Unit:

The Emergency Management division, under the Department of Justice and Community Safety, collaborates with various government bodies and agencies in the emergency management sector. Led by the Deputy Secretary of Emergency Management, the unit oversees the department's emergency management responsibilities and statutory entities.

Responsibilities of the Capability Development Officer, Marine Rescue:

  • Implementing state-wide strategies to enhance volunteer Marine Search and Rescue capabilities
  • Coordinating readiness and fleet management processes for reliable MSAR services
  • Supporting volunteer engagement programs and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Experience for a Capability Development Officer, Marine Rescue:

  • Experience in emergency services response activities with a focus on Marine Search and Rescue
  • Contributions to state-wide program development across multiple volunteer organizations
  • Knowledge of the National Law Act 2012 for Domestic Commercial Vessels, particularly in Safety Management Systems and vessel survey requirements
