Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. 

Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~225 Terajoules per day.   

Woodside Energy has selected Bechtel to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning scope of work for Pluto Train 2. 

Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Piping and Pipe Testing Field Engineer

  • Prepares construction drawings, sketches, and test packages. 
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.  
  • Provide technical assistance to piping and pipe testing superintendents and direct hire craft.
  • Perform piping field inspections and document in accordance with Project ITP’s, Project Procedures and Drawings, relevant international codes, and Bechtel Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Verify field installed piping quantities through Pipefighter.
  • Responsible for the development of pressure test packages, blow/flush packages, and responsible for witnessing and verifying and acceptance.
  • Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
  • Conduct final piping walkdowns.
  • Witness torque and tensioning on bolted flange connections.

 

Material Management 

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases 
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. 
  • Complete material receipt inspections as required.

 

Quantities 

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required. 

 

Safety / Quality Control 

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 

 

Technical 

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires Engineering bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in the construction of LNG facilities is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Bechtel Standard work processes, procedures, and standard detail drawings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction piping installation, hydrotesting and pneumatic pipe testing.
  • Knowledge of Universal Plant Viewer is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TEAMWorks, Fighter Tools, INFOWorks or Aconex, BPS or DSCS, PTR or Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards is required.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Able to work night shift and day shift when the business need arises (note – this role is primarily assigned to night shift

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site. 

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
