About the opportunity:

Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager, this is an important role in which you will be responsible for completing the integration of an acquired business and bringing it up to Holcim standard following an agreed due diligence plan. Activities will include Traffic Management, Isolation, Contractor Management and high-risk work management - Work at Heights, Hot Work and Confined Spaces.

You will contribute to the development of line management and supervisor health & safety capability including the concept of visible felt leadership and ensuring safety and health systems and processes are understood and implemented effectively by the line. You will also support strategic plan initiatives at an operational level and provide a consultancy, coaching and support service to managers and supervisors on safety and health matters.

Further and detailed accountabilities are found in the position description which is available upon request and will include:

Facilitating and modelling a safety leadership style that demonstrates our priority for health and safety and underpins our drive to zeroHarm. Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business. Undertaking site audits, as scheduled by the compliance, investigation and reporting function, against Holcim Australia safety systems and other appropriate standards. Monitoring, measuring, tracking and reporting on and closing out of corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations and audits. Identification of opportunities to simplify safety systems and processes without compromising our zeroHarm goal. Assisting and supporting line management with safety incident investigations, including the determination and tracking of correct and preventative measures. Assisting and supporting line management in identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing health and safety hazards.

To be successful in this role you will need:

A relevant qualification and/ or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications. Previous experience in a safety leadership role within high-risk environments e.g. quarrying, mining, oil & gas, heavy industrial manufacturing or related sectors is preferred. Relevant experience in conducting safety inspections, audit, leading incident investigations and reporting safety related matters. Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices. Familiarity with the use of Health & Safety record keeping systems. Demonstrated ability to drive and promote a zero-harm culture. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions. Intermediate proficiency in Google suite preferred.
