Operational Systems Technician -Waterloo (NSW),Edwardstown (SA), Bayswater (VIC)

Active lead the way in Vegetation Management throughout Australia, powered by our class leading Vegetation Management System 'Active Mobile'.

Active Mobile is a custom-built system that allows us to effectively manage vegetation scoping, cutting, and auditing. We are currently expanding our rollout and are actively seeking an Operational System Technician to join our team.

It's an immensely varied and rewarding role, suited to someone with a keen interest in technology, a tenacity to find problems and work through solutions, and someone who is a great communicator.

You will be working with the business leaders and field users to identify, map out, implement, and release field solutions. You’ll also be assisting field users with escalated support, proposing, and designing new functionality and implementing thorough testing plans. We must take complex business requirements and turn them into simple field solutions.

We are confident we can teach you the technical components of the role if you are the right person. But ideally you already have some key skills with field experience.

About the Job

  • Actively engage with operations and field users to design, implement, and manage workflows, map appearance and project enhancements.
  • Fairly even split between ArcGIS Pro, SSMS, and coding tools. Exposure to Python automation as you progress.
  • Build mapping projects using ESRI tools, ArcGIS Portal/Online and configure using our internal application.
  • Own the product, build to varying specs and manage the testing process.
  • Administer users and assist operations with data questions.

About you, the most important piece

You:

  • Have a natural sense of curiosity and pull things apart to see how they work.
  • Are a Permanent Resident or Australian citizen.
  • Are creative and active outside of work; our team is made up of chefs, musicians, bike riders, car racers, and champion shooters.
  • Are happy to put your headphones on and smash out solutions.
  • Enjoy interacting with others; it’s a critical part of the role.
  • Can take cues from others but your not afraid of sugesting better ways to do things.
  • Noticed the two typos above

The right person for this role isn't necessarily a GIS specialist or a DBA, as there is so much variety to the role. Exposure to field work or field system usage, system/software configuration or CRM implementations will be regarded highly. Hands on exposure to SQL, ESRI Products and Spatial systems will be valuable, but not critical. Our best hires have come from the field.
