The Opportunity

Bella Vista Haven Retirement Living is a community where sustainable and architectural design seamlessly integrates with low maintenance livingiin the heart of Sydney's Hills district. Working closely with the Community Manager and your team of hospitality staff, you'll lead the kitchen to success by providing dining & hospitality services that exceed the satisfaction of residents and ensures team members are executing all policies and procedures. You will enjoy connecting with residents, be incredibly hands-on in the kitchen, ensure sufficient supplies of goods and will enjoy working with a small, close-knit team. Most importantly, you'll have a passion for delivering a gold standard of service to residents

This position is permanent full-time, working Monday to Friday.

You will:

  • Be responsible for all kitchen and dining operations - cooking and preparing meals for lunch and dinner services, providing guidance to your team and creating fresh ideas
  • Work closely with your team to deliver great service, ensure the restaurant is running smoothly and coordinating ideas for functions
  • Monitor daily Food Safety checklists and ensure strict adherence to all OH&S policies
  • Complete stock management of all goods including ordering, rotation and amendments
  • Complete staff rostering, manage development & hiring and ensure your team deliver outstanding service to customers
  • Following up on day-to-day operational issues including adhering to schedules, cleaning lists and performance issues

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in a casual dining kitchen setting (e.g retirement villages, aged care, cafes, a la carte settings, RSLs or pubs)
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (required)
  • Qualified Food Safety Supervisor (desirable)
  • Kitchen management experience (ordering stock, rostering and admin experience)
  • Minimum two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)
