About the Role

The Senior Quantitative Analyst plays a crucial role in the Bank Treasury Department by utilising advanced quantitative techniques to support decision-making processes related to risk management, asset-liability management, liquidity management, and financial modelling. This position is responsible for developing sophisticated quantitative models, analysing financial data, and providing insights that contribute to the overall financial health and strategic objectives of the bank.

This role will develop and maintain quantitative models to assess and manage various financial risks, including interest rate risk, market risk, credit risk, and liquidity risk. These models will utilize techniques such as stochastic modelling, Monte Carlo simulations, behavioural analysis, and stress testing methodologies.

In addition, the role involves analyzing financial data, market trends, and macroeconomic factors to identify opportunities and risks within the bank's portfolio, providing actionable insights to senior management for strategic decision-making. The candidate will also assist in the development and implementation of Asset-Liability Management (ALM) strategies to optimize the bank's balance sheet, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite. Furthermore, thorough validation and testing of quantitative models will be conducted to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards such as APRA Prudential Standards.

About you

· Postgraduate qualifications in quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, IT, or a related field.

· Senior level experience in quantitative analysis within the banking or financial services industry, with a focus on treasury management, risk management, or asset-liability management.

· Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, SAS, SQL, VBA and Advanced Excel modelling for quantitative analysis and modelling.

· Deep understanding of financial instruments, derivatives, and their pricing models.

· Experience with quantitative modelling techniques, including time series analysis, regression analysis, and machine learning algorithms.

· Solid knowledge of banking regulations and regulatory requirements related to risk management (e.g. APRA Prudential Standards).

· Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex quantitative concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Committed and enthusiastic team player. Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn.

· Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build positive working relationships across different functional areas.
