The Empowering Hive is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing a range of therapeutic services to children aged 3 to 18 years. Located in Alexandra Hills, Brisbane we have a strong commitment to supporting neurodivergent young individuals with Autism and developmental delays through a strengths-based approach to therapy. Our goal is to assist clients in enhancing social engagement, emotional awareness, and independence in daily activities.  

Position Summary:

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Paediatric Occupational Therapists to join our allied health team. The ideal candidates will demonstrate a genuine interest in working with children and young people, alongside a commitment to fostering positive therapeutic relationships.  The role is clinic based, but there is also scope for home/school/telehealth appointments.

We are seeking 2 to 3 OT's in Employee or Contractor based roles, days and times are negotiable.  We support our therapists with full administration, billing and invoicing support, marketing, generated referral base, furnished clinic room and more.  We have participants ready to start now.

Employees: $87K - $130K (depending on experience) + options for NFP Salary Sacrifice up to $15,900 per year.  We will also pay for your Professional Development, Supervision, Resources and supply laptop device.

Contractors: $90 - $115 per hour.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Provide one on one evidence-based interventions aimed at improving functional capacity and independence.  Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand a child's developmental, physical, and cognitive abilities.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Implementing various therapeutic techniques to improve fine motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
  • Family Education and Support: Educating and supporting families to help them understand their child's needs and how to assist with therapy at home.
  • Collaboration with Other Professionals: Working closely with our fellow therapists, teachers, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the child's development.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly tracking and documenting the child's progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  • Environmental Adaptations: Recommending and implementing modifications to the child's environment to enhance their ability to perform daily activities.
  • Advocacy: Advocating for the child's needs within the school system and community to ensure they receive appropriate support and resources.
  • Skill Development: Helping children develop skills necessary for school readiness, play, and social interaction.
  • Research and Continuing Education: Staying updated with the latest research and best practices in paediatric occupational therapy to provide the best care possible.
  • Group Workshops: Lead and/or support alternative programming, including therapy groups and focused interest groups for young individuals with Autism during school holidays. 
  • Record keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation, ensuring compliance with ethical and legal standards.  

Qualifications and Requirements:  

  • 3+ years of professional experience in occupational therapy. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. 
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 
  • Medicare Provider Number (or can obtain). 
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance (if applying for a contractor role). 
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check). 
  • Current Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening Check). 
  • High level of communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Adaptable, empathetic and patient attributes to support and nurture our participants.
