Paediatric Occupational Therapist Grade 2
(32 hours per fortnight, negotiable)
Alexandra District Health (ADH) is seeking a Paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) to join its supportive multidisciplinary Primary Health Team. ADH is a major health service within the Shire of Murrindindi and has long and proud history in health-related service provision to the area, providing medical and surgical care in a wide range of specialties, as well as multiple Primary Health programs.
The Paediatric OT will be registered with AHPRA, and adhere to continuing professional development requirements. Reporting to the Primary Health Manager, they are responsible for the provision of Community Health funded services to children between the ages of 1- 16, as well as their families and carers. Using a family centred approach, the Paediatric OT will works alongside our Speech Pathologist and mental health team, supporting clients with mild to moderate developmental delays and social emotional challenges.
A sound knowledge of supporting children with emotional regulation and sensory integration challenges is required along with demonstrated knowledge, with administration and interpretation of standardised assessments such as; the Sensory Profile 2 and/ or Sensory Processing Measure 2. Although the service is mostly a centre based service, collaboration with local kindergartens and schools is essential to the role.
Other responsibilities include:
- Completing comprehensive assessments and evaluation of children’s, sensory, motor and cognitive skills.
- Develop meaningful goals with families and carers to support a child’s independence with their Activities of Daily Living.
- Developing individualised treatment plans to support a child sensory, motor and cognitive skill.
- Completion of comprehensive reports to support funding applications and diagnostic assessments.
- Implementation of evidence-based practices within therapy sessions.
- Close collaboration with families, caregiver and educational settings.
- Monitor and document progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to achieve optimal outcomes for the child and family.
- Provision of education and training to families, educational facilities to support consistency and carry over of therapeutic strategies within home and community environments.
The successful candidate will be well supported within a close-knit team of allied health professionals, as well as via external clinical supervision and education opportunities. You will be client focused, demonstrate effective interpersonal and written communication skills, be able to work autonomously and manage a busy workload and have the ability to function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
