ORGANISATION

Join Lifeline Australia and you will be helping to support the delivery of critical services ensuring that “no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone.”

Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope. This is achieved through a partnership of over 10,000 committed volunteers and their member centres in communities across the nation.

ROLE

Reporting into the CEO and Chair, the Company Secretary and Legal Officer (CSLO) is a key leadership position for Lifeline Australia, with responsibility for Company Secretary and Legal services. This role will be supported by a shared Board Administrator.

The CSLO will support and build up legal capability through the provision of general legal oversight, and the effective management of external legal services.

Building positive and constructive relationships with the Lifeline Board, CEO, Executives and member organisations, this role will support the implementation of strategic priorities through sound problem analysis and good judgement, ensuring Lifeline’s Directors and Officers adhere to the highest levels of probity and good governance.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 10 + years’ experience in managing a Company Secretary end-to-end function.

• Legal background with experience in managing external service providers.

• Strong knowledge of ACNC, ASIC and the Corporations Act.

• Professional qualifications from the GIA or AICD.

• Outstanding relationship building skills at Board and Executive level.

• Excellent time management and organisation skills.

• Expertise and confidence to manage priorities and communicate early regarding potential problems.
