ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

This newly created role aims to provide support to parents/carers attending Interrelate’s Children’s Contact Centre. Parents will be offered an individually tailored approach to support healthy relationships with their children, with the goal of self-management.

This a 6-month Fixed term contract up until 31 December 2024. Working 22.5 hours per week across two sites, Port Macquarie & Taree.

Working days are negotiable with some weekend work required as part of this role.

This position is in line with a Schads level 5 with an hourly rate of $51.32 per hour plus super.

Key Responsibilities, but not limited to; 

  • Provide individually tailored trauma informed support both through psycho education and coaching (mentoring, active and purposeful role modelling) whilst working alongside parents to build and strengthen parenting capacity and attachment relationships with their child/ren.
  • Holistic Case management provision that will:

             * assess the parent/carer’s / family’s needs.

             * assess risks (including suicide and domestic violence risk) and develop action plans and safety plans as needed to mitigate identified risks.

             * assist clients / families to develop their own goals and case/service plan.

             * make appropriate internal and external referrals. 

  • Conducting regular case management meetings as required including attending and facilitating external meetings with other services or agencies.
  • Regularly consulting with the Children’s Contact Centre Coordinators and Practice Leads regarding the case management and support of families
  • Upholding the philosophy of Interrelate’s child safe principles (including being child-led & child-focused) and its commitment to supporting families by providing inclusive family friendly services
  • Providing case planned support to parents and children as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Maintaining professional documentation and administrative systems according to Interrelate’s requirements.
  • Ensuring that a strengths based, client centered, customer service perspective is reflected in all aspects of duties
  • Remaining abreast of professional trends and literature relevant to child development and case management

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

·       A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related discipline; or, a Graduate Diploma in counselling, community service or equivalent in addition to a bachelor’s degree that is not a related discipline.

·       Demonstrated experience in case management with families together with the skills in managing high parental conflict whilst upholding the best interests of the child

·       Demonstrated experience in therapeutic work with families and children together with knowledge of child development, child protection and family violence issues

·       The ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure positive outcomes

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills
