Director of Finance

The Opportunity

We have a fantastic permanent full-time opportunity for a commercially savvy, dynamic and leadership driven Director of Finance to become a key member of the executive team at The Avenue Private and Masada Private Hospitals. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Finance will be responsible for the financial management and financial performance of both the hospitals. You will be supported by an onsite finance assistant and an offsite Finance Service Centre which will undertake the transactional accounting functions for this role, however, ownership of the accuracy and integrity of the financials will sit within this role.

Key Accountabilities

• Finalisation and analysis of results and identification of opportunities for improvements and growth
• Development of annual budgets and business plans
• Management of various non-clinical departments within the hospitals, including Business Office/Patient Administration, Consulting Suites, Finance, Supply, Health Information Services, Catering and Environmental Services Departments
• The role encompasses the management and financial implications of Capital Expenditure
• Liaise with corporate finance services regarding reporting and compliance 
• Partnering with clinical departments to educate and empower departmental managers to understand, monitor and meet KPIS

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess significant commercial acumen, financial management expertise, highly effective leadership skills and the ability to foster strong, positive, and professional relationships with remote and on-site teams. 

Your Skills and Experience

• Qualifications in accountancy/finance management, preferably CPA or CA
• Ability to analyse financial and operational information, develop value creating insights
• Work collaboratively with the business to improve performance
• Demonstrated excellent attention to detail, decision making capabilities and ability to communicate clearly and concisely
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs especially Excel
• Previous experience working with large accounting software packages and financial reporting models including advanced budget preparation
• Demonstrated ability to work with and support key non-financial stakeholders

Desirable but not essential

• Experienced in financial management within the healthcare sector
• Proficient in financial legislation, compliance, and financial risk management frameworks relevant to healthcare environments

About the Hospitals

The Avenue Private Hospital is a cutting-edge private facility with 152 beds. Renowned for excellence in orthopaedic surgery, joint replacement, and sports injury management, it also offers a reputable Bariatric (Obesity) surgical program. The hospital features 11 operating theatres, a day surgery center, a High Dependency Unit, a Dermatology Centre, and advanced imaging services (MRI, CT, and Ultrasound). Onsite services include Comprehensive Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, and Pre-Admission and Discharge Planning.

Masada Private Hospital is a fully accredited 105-bed facility offering acute medical, surgical, dermatology, Early Parenting Centre, and rehabilitation services.
