About the role

We are looking for a Supervisor Signals Maintenance Inland – West Angelas to lead a team responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Signals and Systems network within Rio Tinto’s rail division. This role plays a key part in ensuring that safety, maintenance, and operational targets are achieved in line with RTIO policy, asset management processes as well as relevant legislation and regulations.

Leading from the frontline is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a huge amount of responsibility and stakeholder engagement. We need you to motivate, inspire and keep our people safe as we work.

This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with strong front-line leadership experience who can work under pressure whilst fostering a positive and inclusive culture. Reporting to the Superintendent – Electrical Maintenance, you will: 

  • Overseeing the efficient completion of planned maintenance and inspections of signalling system network to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the railway
  • Communicating regularly with key stakeholders including Train Control, Network Specialist, Rail Operations and Engineering Support regarding the signalling system
  • Defining performance expectations for employees and coaching performance against these standards
  • Coaching and developing team members and providing leadership through frequent and proactive field engagement
  • Driving and promoting a zero-harm culture through proactive safety leadership
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of improvement projects
  • Continue to identify opportunities to improve the performance of people, processes & systems

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have: 

  • Proactive approach with a strong commitment to driving a safe and positive working culture
  • Leadership experience and confidence in leading, developing and coaching team members
  • Minimum of 10 Years of working experience as an electrician and at least five years in electrical fixed plant maintenance.
  • WA A grade electrical license
  • Competent understanding of electrical schematics, isolation and permitting systems
  • A current C class Drivers License
  • Strong fatigue management skillsets and comfortable with working nightshift regularly

It will also be beneficial if you have: 

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • WA A grade electrical licence or equivalent
  • Strong background in heavy haul rail
  • Previous experience in rail signalling (Cert IV in Railway Signalling desirable but not essential)
  • Proficient in SAP and workflow management processes
